Community Opportunities

Community Mental Health Services (CMHS) provide a range of services for adults with moderate to severe mental illness or psychological distress. CMHS is delivered primarily from the base at Cornwall House at Greenlane Clinical Centre.

 

Inpatient Opportunities

A number of fantastic Registered Nurse vacancies are available in our modern Inpatient Unit Te Whetu Tawera.

 

Te Whetu Tawera (TWT) is the Adult Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit for Auckland District Health Board, which serves the population of central Auckland. TWT has 58 beds in a modern purpose built facility, including a 12 bed ICU. Situated at Auckland City Hospital in the heart of Auckland there is good access to public transport near the unit and it is close to several major shopping and entertainment centres. 

 

There is a range of nursing led quality initiatives that you will be actively able to contribute to. The productive programme ‘Releasing Time to Care’ is one of these led by Nurses to improve the functionality on their wards. The implementation of the 6 Core Strategies to reduce seclusion and restraint and creating less restrictive environments has been another priority for the last few years. The nursing team has been instrumental in the progress.

 

Charge Nurse Opportunities (Inpatient)

We are looking for Registered Comprehensive (with PG Cert in MH) or Psychiatric Nurses with previous experience in nursing leadership roles in mental health services. You will have a high level of understanding of the continuum of care and a commitment to the fundamental values and attitudes of modern mental health service delivery and be able to robustly evidence application of this in the clinical context. Evidence of successful completion of PDRP L3 or L4 is desired.
