About us:

We are a dynamic maternity team which has received awards for work surrounding the normal birth pathway, teaching innovations and improving patient safety. A Level 2 CNST Maternity Unit with full UNICEF baby friendly accreditation providing high quality individualised woman-centred care.


We deliver approx. 4000 births per year in our Delivery Suite to a diverse, challenging population of pregnant women encompassing high risk pregnancy and birth, ethnic minority groups and health inequalities.


Our offer to the women we care for is based on choice; an individualised care package inclusive of active birth and alternative therapies, as well as excellent care for low risk women on our newly refurbished Midwifery Led Unit with five birth suites inclusive of three birth pools. The team is passionate about normality focused birth, and support water birth, active birth, alternative therapies and physiological management of the third stage.


About you:

We need highly motivated, experienced and dynamic midwives to join our teams in the Delivery Suite/Maternity Triage Unit (MTU), Midwifery Led Unit (MLU) and the Maternity Ward.

You will have the opportunity to rotate through all areas of the Maternity service including Primary care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, care and compassion are clearly essential for these roles.


Our ward Sisters work in a Supervisory capacity to ensure robust support and supervision in our Inpatient clinical areas at all times. We offer a robust induction package, on-going development and proactive support from Midwifery Supervision, as well as exciting learning opportunities using ‘Obsim’ - a high quality simulated training session using new technology – focusing on effective team working, human factor analysis and problem solving..
